Patriot of the Week: John McCain and Lindsey Graham
Now that the buzz from half-kook Rand Paul’s silly filibuster has finally died down, it is time to focus on the true GOP heroes of this story: John McCain and Lindsey Graham.
John McCain is basically synonymous with the term patriot already for his war hero status earned killing evil Vietnamese commies (and future generations of commies – collateral damage) decades ago.
Lindsey Graham is also deserving of the term patriot, most recently for standing up for the government’s right to indefinitely detain Americans under the NDAA:
When they say ‘I want my lawyer,’ you tell them, ‘Shut up. You don’t get a lawyer.’
When Rand Paul feebly (only 13 hours? – McCain could do that naked in a Vietnamese torture camp with electrodes on his testicles while being waterboarded) attempted to “defend our liberties”, McCain had this to say:
The country needs more senators who care about liberty, but if Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms.
And Graham this:
People are astonished that President Obama is doing many of the things that President Bush did. I’m not astonished. I congratulate him for having the good judgment to understand we’re at war…
I couldn’t possibly say it better myself.
