US economic sanctions against Cuba and North Korea (among many others) have worked incredibly well to eliminate those brutal regimes.
Similarly, the opening of relations with the brutal communist regimes of Vietnam and China have been horrific disaster as the dictators there have managed to maintain power and become even more brutal over the years.
These obvious examples have proved that opening relations and trade only serves to strengthen totalitarian regimes.
So you would think that Congress would be in absolute agreement that the only way to remove our current #1 threat (Iran! of course) is to impose further sanctions.
But apparently the following terrorist-coddling kooks are too dense to realize this:
Amash, Justin (R-MI)
Duncan, John (R-TN)
Jones, Walter (R-NC)
Kucinich, Dennis (D-OH)
Massie, Thomas (R-KY)
Paul, Ron (R-TX) (surprise! NOT!)
All of these congressmen voted against H.R. 3783:
Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act of 2012
States that it is U.S. policy to use a comprehensive strategy to counter Iran’s growing hostile presence in the Western Hemisphere by working together with U.S. allies and partners in the region to deter threats to U.S. interests by Iran, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the IRGC’s Qods Force, and Hezbollah.
Expresses the sense of Congress that the Secretary should keep Congress informed about Iran’s hostile actions in the Western Hemisphere.
Luckily for us, the rest of the federal government is smart enough to vote in favor or the bill, preventing the calamity of Iran getting THE bomb and attacking America.
If that were to happen, you know who to thank.
