Our leader at Soldier Field:
When the kooks demand that the government gets out of the economy, ask them if they are football fans.
The NFL is a very good example of a successful government economic venture. The majority of recent NFL stadiums have been financed with your tax dollars. Sure, the teams are owned by billionaires and sure, the league brought in close to $10 billion in revenue in 2011, but how can you put a price on the prestige a brand new NFL stadium brings a city? We should feel pride that we can help the NFL owners finance their glorious, single-use, monolithic eyesores.
The fact is, as is so often the case with government-financed ventures, everybody wins!
So as you enjoy the third Sunday of the 2012 NFL season, enjoy it a little extra because you helped pay for it.
